Our therapists are currently conducting online sessions ONLY.
What is Teletherapy?
Teletherapy (also known as “online therapy”) is therapy conducted via secure online video conferencing. Teletherapy was already becoming increasingly more popular over recent years, but became a necessity in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Online sessions allow for a much more accessible therapy experience - you can work with your therapist from the convenience of your own home, work, (or even car!).
Many clients say that they forget their session is even online once the session gets going. In fact, many studies have shown that teletherapy is just as effective as in-person therapy.
How it works.
Starline Therapy has a signed HIPAA Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with Google/G-Suite. Our therapists each use Google Meet to conduct sessions using our HIPAA-compliant Associate Accounts (@starlinetherapy.com). We send a secure link to your email a few minutes before session, and you can join on whichever device you prefer via browser or Google Meet application. Google Meet is free to use for clients, and can be accessed via the browser of your choice on a personal computer by clicking here and entering your personal meeting code (provided by the therapist prior to each session). On mobile, simply search for “Google Meet” on your app store. Information about HIPAA Compliance and Google can be found here.
Your therapist will ensure that they are in a soundproof area where nobody can hear what you or they say. They will also ensure (to the best of their ability) that they have a strong internet connection. Like when conducted in-person, sessions last 50 minutes. When the session is over, you simply close the browser window or application and go about the rest of your day!
If you have more than one person attending your sessions, you can set it up so that either 1) everyone is on the same device using the same camera or 2) each person can use their own device. Whatever works best for you.
